Things to Do
Shimin-Kaikan Community Center Building where many community events are held, including some Ketchikan group events. Riverside Sports Center Called "RibbaSpo" by locals, is a nice, modern, sports facility. It boasts a six lane, 25 meter heated pool complex, two jacuzzies, walking pool, weight room, gymnasium, judo and table-tennis room. Jewelry and visible tattoos are not allowed in the pool. Tattoos must be covered by your bathing suit or taped. Be sure to swim in the correct lanes, as the signage can be confusing. Hizan Complex Pronounced "HEEzawn," you will find a restaurant and shopping area next to Highway 41, the main route through town. Catering primarily to tourists, it has two ramen noodle shops, a fast-(but good) food restaurant, and souvenirs. Onsen (hot springs) Gero is famous for its hot springs ("onsen"). There are many hotels near the hot springs, and some large tubs are even located in the hotels. |
